After that big night out, a sleep in was definitely in order and the day started from 1pm and in no-time I was suited-up and off to the Federation Concert Hall again, this time for a concert that really got my curiosity excited when deciding which events to attend: Lubomyr Melnyk.

Although I did watch a handful of performance videos on Youtube, I had no idea what to really expect, however on the night, Lubomyr’s performance was simply phenomenal and took the audience on an enchanting and mesmerising journey with his style of continuous play. Both funny and humble, this pianist is one to definitely not miss out if you get the opportunity to experience his performance live. Each piece was briefly described with a tale and throughout the longest piece ‘Windmill Nirvana’ all in the Hall were truly spellbound and captivated, with a well deserved standing ovation upon conclusion. This along with Tim Hecker’s performance were among the greatest highlights of Dark Mofo without a doubt.

Following the concert, it was off to the Winter Feast under the gloomy Hobart skies which later opened up for a shower but it was a great opportunity to enjoy a farewell feed with some awesome Oberek dancers I met at PolArt in December 2015, lovely to hang out and see their faces again! Lots of great food and choice at the Winter Feast, highly recommend this while at Dark Mofo.

Following this it was a quick walk with Cindy through the nearby Dark Park including the mirrored maze (plenty of fun there!) then back to the motel to get ready for departure day, most frustratingly though, I could feel a tickle in my throat once getting back. Someone’s not gonna have a good time…
