Aargh what a long day! In hindsight I probably won’t be booking flights with such a long layover again, although time flew by, that long wait coupled with the time zone differences is a killer.
On the plus side, I can say Austrian Airways have what I could describe as the best economy class dinner in the sky. Proper and delicious curry chicken!
Anyway having finally landed in Amsterdam, I followed the sound advice of a friend to head south and explore Delft where I aimlessly wandered around the pretty canals lined with trees and flower beds, visit to a chocolate shop and enjoying a glorious Trappist beer as the sun shone through the clouds. It’s the little things. The rest of the day was spent getting lost in the public transit system here and in the process having a good chat with an Irishman leaving Schiphol where I met up with ol’ mate Eddie 🙂 Lots of walking, time for a snooze!
